About Us

Daintree Ecolodge

This unique boutique accommodation is nestled in the heart of the World Heritage-listed Daintree Rainforest.  Immersed in the canopy are 15 eco-friendly ‘bayans’ (treehouses). Within our serene setting is a natural waterfall and we offer dedicated rainforest walks.

Daintree Ecolodge is the perfect destination to reconnect with nature and the people you love. Believed to be over 180 million years old, and the oldest tropical lowland rainforest on Earth, the Daintree Rainforest is a rare jewel in the crown of Mother Nature. This is where lush tropical rainforest meets sweeping white sand beaches and fringing coral reefs.

The Ecolodge features a main lodge with a bar, restaurant and dining area overlooking the lagoon. There’s also the Daintree Wellness Spa, a refreshing swimming pool and a multitude of quiet areas amongst the lush tropical rainforest to relax and unwind.

Fresh, clean water from the purest source, combined with organic, healthy foods guarantees an uplifting and sustainable getaway.

AMENITIES

RAINFOREST WELLNESS SPA

Rejuvenate the mind, body and soul in an experience to enhance your sense of well-being in the Daintree Wellness Spa. Our treatments are inspired by the healing properties of Australian native botanical ingredients.

LODGE

The social meeting point at the Daintree Ecolodge. Guests can enjoy a game of giant naughts and crosses, read a book or enjoy a signature cocktail at the bar.

JULAYMBA RESTAURANT

Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, gourmet meals are served in a beautiful rainforest setting as our Head Chef and his team showcase the very best of contemporary Australian cuisine.

ONSITE WATERFALL

Enjoy the sights and sounds of the pristine onsite waterfall. During the wet season, the waterfall will be flowing to bring life to the lush rainforest. You can easily view the falls from our nearby deck.

Due to the cultural significance of the waterfall to the Kuku Yalanji people, we ask that people avoid walking through this area.

MINI BAR HAMPERS

At the Daintree Ecolodge we do things a little differently. All rooms have a bar fridge stocked with complimentary water. For additional in-room snacks, guests can purchase a hamper and sample some great local produce. Simply add a hamper to your room booking; the Picnic Hamper is $135 for two people and the Indulgence Hamper is $140 for two, including sparkling wine.

RECEPTION

Our friendly staff are here to help and make your rainforest experience all the more enjoyable. We can tailor your stay to suit – we can help you choose from a selection of offsite tours and adventures, or reserve time relax in the Daintree Wellness Spa for a true rainforest retreat.

SWIMMING POOL

Guests can enjoy our undercover swimming pool between 7am-10pm daily. The open-air pool area is an ideal place to relax and cool off. There are comfy lounge chairs for taking it easy or catching up on your reading and pool towels are available from reception.

NATURAL WATERHOLE

For a refreshing dip surrounded by the rainforest, we have a waterhole that’s up to 2.5 metres deep when water levels are at their highest. It’s a rarity in the Daintree to have somewhere safe like this to swim in the natural setting. It’s normally available 7am until dusk for guests, though the waterhole may be closed if the flow of water is too fast following rain or if conditions are unsafe due to the weather.

FITNESS CENTRE

For our guests who want to maintain their fitness while on holidays, or get in shape when you’re away, we have our new gym facilities. Daily access is free and we have a range of cardio and strength-building equipment available. If you’d like help working on your fitness, we also have a personal trainer who runs on-site sessions. See our ‘Things to Do‘ for more information.

How to get here

Access

Access to the Daintree Ecolodge is via a 90 minute drive north of Cairns, on one of Australia’s most spectacular drives. Departing Cairns in a northerly direction on the Captain Cook Highway is a stunning coastal drive to Port Douglas, Mossman and Daintree Village. The lodge is nestled on the southern banks of the impressive Daintree River so a ferry crossing is not required.

Self-driving is recommended, while transfers can be arranged upon request.

The Daintree Ecolodge offers a breathtaking retreat and the perfect base to explore the World Heritage-listed Daintree Rainforest. Estimated to be 180 million years old, the Daintree National Park is a rare jewel in the crown of Mother Nature, where lush tropical rainforest meets sweeping beaches and fringing coral reefs. Its positioning alongside the Great Barrier Reef makes it the only place in the world where two UNESCO World Heritage Sites meet. The Daintree’s spectacular scenery captures coastal views, rugged mountain peaks, crystal clear creeks and waterfalls as well as forest as far as the eye can see.

Daintree Climate

THE WEATHER

The Daintree climate is truly tropical with the weather during the dry season, roughly May to October, offering warm days and cooler nights with low humidity. The dry season tends to be the most popular season for travel.

December to March is generally the wet season releasing torrential rain and hotter days and nights with some sun. These months are not as crowded but offer a very lush and free environment with creeks and waterfalls running at capacity. This rain is soothing and centring to the soul, a great opportunity to really disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, relax, read a book…and soak up what helps keep our World Heritage-listed rainforest so pristine.

Protecting the world's oldest rainforest

RAINFOREST RESCUE

We are proud to partner with Rainforest Rescue and the Intrepid Foundation to help protect and restore the Daintree Rainforest.

Rainforest Rescue has planted over 350,000 trees to restore Australian rainforest. They now protect 45 rainforest properties, including 32 that are protected forever through Nature Refuge Conservation Agreements. These properties create wildlife corridors to connect habitat with the adjacent National Parks, allowing wildlife to move freely.

Your donation made through the Intrepid Foundation directly supports Rainforest Rescue’s efforts to restore and protect previously cleared areas of Daintree Lowland Rainforest, and support the growth of their vital native plant nursery.
