Learning how to make dilly bags (woven baskets) is a tradition that’s been passed down through families for centuries. Kuku Yalanji artist Delissa Walker is an acclaimed Master Weaver and she learned the ancient practice from her grandmother. Today she keeps the culture alive with the use of traditional tools and natural materials that you’ll only find in the narrow coastal region of tropical Australia. Delissa will teach you how to weave your own dilly bag to keep, while sharing her stories of growing up in the Daintree. The class is suitable for beginners and people of all ages. Bookings are essential (on request). A 2-hour class is $130 per person.
